Orderly book, 1775.

General, division, brigade, and regimental orders kept for Captain John Russell, probably by Peter Bishop, of Jonathan Brewer's Regiment of the Continental Army. The orders were kept at Prospect Hill, Cambridge, Mass. from 19 June - 4 Sept. 1775 during the Siege of Boston. The book contains general orders, including those closely following the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June, concerning the state of alert at Prospect Hill and other fortifications and the return of military gear picked up at Bunker Hill; division orders giving troop assignments for Prospect Hill (Somerville); and a brigade order directing Brewer's regiment to serve picket duty at Plowed Hill.
